I'm fascinated by the relationship between physical and digital realities. The question I'm asking is this: When a ceramic object mimics a digital form, does it lose its sense of craftsmanship? Clay 3D printing is another step on the path towards automated fabrication which forces us to reconsider the role of the artist. My thesis is that digitally assisted fabrication isn't better or worse than traditional craftsmanship. It's just different... not trapped in the uncanny valley different... just new.
